About me...
Dhakeria is a poet, playwright, and screenwriter. Through the production company she established with her husband, she has created original works that have been produced and performed on stages in the southeastern region of the US.
Having studied acting at Howard University, Dhakeria uses her extensive knowledge of storytelling and acting to create theatrical productions. She authored a book of poetry, from which she created a one-woman show called, Naked. The show consists of poetic monologues designed to empower women. She has toured Naked, regionally, receiving feedback that she used as a springboard for the creation of empowerment conferences to further transform lives beyond the stage.
While living in Florida, Little worked closely with a premier black theater, where she debuted her one-woman show, as well as a new original one-night-only production called, We are because they were, a play that focuses on the history of black Americans. The show received rave reviews and a standing ovation. Another one of her original plays was accepted into the National Black Theatre Festival Reader’s Theater of new works. Her original short film, written by and starring Little, was also accepted into the festival for screening.
Knowing the importance of uplift and encouragement, the proud mother of three daughters writes with women in mind, empowering them through both the written and spoken word. When she’s not scribbling bits of poetry on note pads, she enjoys traveling and creating memories with her husband and children.
